1) Difference between Passive and Active components. |
i) Those devices or components
which required external source to their operation is called Active Components. Those devices or components which do not
required external source to their operation is called Passive Components.
|
ii) Those devices or
components which produce energy in the form of Voltage or
Current are called as Active Components. Those devices or components which store or
maintain Energy in the form of Voltage or Current are known as Passive
Components.
|
iii) Active Components:
Energy Donor.
|
Passive
Components: Energy Acceptor.
|
iv) Passive Components are in linear and Active
Components are in non
linear category.
|
2) Difference between BJT and
MOSFET
|
i) BJT
is a Bipolar Junction Transistor, while MOSFET
is a Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor.
|
ii) A
BJT has an emitter, collector and base, while
a MOSFET has a
gate, source and drain.
|
iii) BJTs
are preferred for low current applications, while MOSFETs
are for high power functions.
|
iv) The
operation of MOSFET depends on
the voltage at the oxide-insulated gate electrode, while the
operation of BJT is dependent on the current at the base.
